There will be a memorial service in Terling Church next Thursday 10th July at 3.30pm. We would welcome any former team mates or opponents and would ask that they wear club ties. Black is optional as he was never one for suits.

Discounted Essex Tickets

There is a ticket offer from Essex CCC where clubs can sell tickets for the Southend Cricket Festival (Essex CCC v Glam CCC and Essex Eagles v Northants Steelbacks) for face value but purchase the tickets at a £5 discount so can make £5 per ticket for their club. This was available last season but wasn't publicised well. EMTCC made over £100 from it for doing very little!
The details are on http://www.southendcricketfestival.org.uk/ticketApp.aspx

Galleywood II Withdraw from Division 4

Due to lack of players Galleywood have withdrawn their 2nd XI from Division 4. Galleywood have lost the majority of players from their first team. As a result the club feels able to send the second XI up to play in Division 1. They and the leagues committee feel it would have been unfair to ask the Division 10 side to move up to Division 4. As a result, and to allow common sense to prevail the action we have taken seems the only one available to all parties and i hope this makes clear the basis for the decisions we have made.
Regards
Bill Wignall
League Chairman
Please not that all Galleywood Division 10 home matches will be played at Slades Lane, Galleywood.

Basildon/Southend Echo

My name is Rob Pritchard, a sports reporter on the Basildon/Southend Echo newspaper.I also play for Ingatestone and Fryerning CC.

New Indoor Net Facility

I am applying for planning permission to use one of our grain stores in Writtle for indoor nets for the months January to April. I play for Little Waltham, and we have found it pretty difficult to book good winter nets once the county ground is full. I aim to make our facility as good as Essex, with full length nets and matting, bowling machines and excellent lighting. The planning application is being considered by the Borough Council at the moment, and if you think its a good idea and would like to support the bid you can do so by clicking on the following link: -

http://web1.chelmsfordbc.gov.uk/publicaccess/tdc/DcApplication/application_detailview.aspx?caseno=JXM90YBR08Q00

Any help showing that there is a demand for good indoor nets would be great.
Many Thanks,
Frank Thorogood

Team Sheets

Captains should remember that it is recommended by the League that they exchange Team Sheets before the match. This is included in the Umpire's Appointments Secretary's pre-season note when Alan Golding wrote 'The League also suggests that this practice is standard in all League matches. Firstly, the exchange of team sheets offers an opportunity for both captains to review the ages of players on both sides playing in the match, being necessary because of the safety guidance for young players. Secondly, it offers both captains an opportunity to be very clear about exactly who is playing in the match should any player be late in arriving.' Team Sheets can be found in the Umpires Section of the website, or may be obtained from the ECB direct, contact Frank Kemp in London. For Premier League matches Team Sheets are mandatory. They must be the prescribed Team Sheet (as on this website), with both sides filled in and the back signed by the captain or the player completing the Sheet. Scraps of paper and Club documentation are not acceptable and Clubs presenting Umpires with non-official Sheets will be reported to the League Discipline Committee. The Team Sheet is a very important issue for appointed Umpires and their insurance may be affected if the official Team Sheets are not used.
With kind regards
Alan Golding
