Changes to the Sporting Award marking system.
Following feedback from clubs, to ensure the sporting marks are given without a person being influenced by the other captain or the marks given by the opposition, all captains are now to award their sporting marks in isolation of each other. The home captain will, after both captains have signed the result card enter the sporting mark given to the away side at the bottom of the result card.

The away captain is now responsible for telephoning the result of the match to the publicity officers.

In doing so the away captain will also indicate the sporting mark awarded to the home side for that game.

Guidance for Captains and players on marking

The normal or average mark awarded is seven points This is where nothing really contentious or outstanding has occurred. It allows for exceptional sporting behaviour to be awarded with an eight, nine or even ten. Where negative issues have arisen, a six or less should be awarded, FOUR or below is considered significant, the circumstances of which must be sent in writing to the league secretary. This letter must arrive by the Friday following the game in question. Please ignore any isolated or brief incidents. The captain, should consider the statements below when deciding the sporting mark to award the opposition. These statements should be considered as a whole and not one point for each criteria.
